New version of my IXLocks Open Admin Tool plugin (original version http://informix-technology.blogspot.com/2016/08/ixlocks-oat-plugin.html)

I've uploaded a new version of the IXLocks plugin to GitHub. There is nothing really new in this version, except a fix for a problem that prevent it to work with recent versions of Open Admin Tool.
It was now tested with version 3.16 of OAT.
For those who don't know this plugin it allows a DBA to easily view in a graphic format some information about the locks in their instances. It can list all locks, locks with waiters, locks per table and locks per session.
Feel free to test it and to provide me some feedback.

Não há nada de verdadeiramente novo nesta versão exceto a correcção de um problema que impedia o seu funcionamento em versões recentes do Open Admin Tool.
Foi testado com a versão 3.16 do OAT.
Para quem não conhece, este plugin permite aos DBAs verem facilmente e de forma gráfica, informação sobre os locks existentes nas suas instâncias. Pode listar todos os locks, os locks com sessões em espera, os locks por tabela e os locks por sessão.

Informix in SPARC.... by Oracle! / Informix em SPARC... pela Oracle

In 2001, 15 years ago, IBM acquired Informix Software company. Competitors, in particular Oracle tried to tell customers that Informix would go away fast. 15 years later we're still around and still introducing unique features in the product, while keeping the simplicity, robustness and performance that made up Informix's DNA.
Now,, again 15 years later, we can see an Oracle blog post with a performance comparison for Informix 12.1 running on Oracle''s own processor (SPARC S7) against Intel's hardware (E5 v4). It's interesting to see how Oracle is trying to show their hardware customers running Informix that they should stay with SPARC... 15 years after they told the world "Informix is gone".... 15 years in which they tried to tell Informix customers they should move to Oracle.
It's a good thing IBM doesn't try to kill our hardware competitors by discontinuing our software products on the competitor's hardware like some try to do

A concorrência, em particular a Oracle, tentou dizer aos clientes que o Informix desapareceria rapidamente. 15 anos depois ainda cá estamos e continuamos a introduzir funcionalidades únicas no produto enquanto mantemos a simplicidade, robustez e eficiência que fizeram o ADN do Informix
Agora, repito 15 anos depois, podemos ver um artigo num blog da Oracle com uma comparação de performance do Informix 12.1 a correr no processador da Oracle (SPARC S7) contra hardware da Intel's (E5 v4). É interessante ver como a Oracle está a tentar mostrar aos seus clientes de hardware que devem manter-se em SPARC... 15 anos depois de terem dito ao mundo que o "Informix is gone".... 15 anos em que tentaram dizer aos clientes Informix que deveriam mudar-se para Oracle.
É bom que a IBM não tente matar os seus concorrentes de hardware descontinuando os seus produtos de software nas plataformas da concorrência como alguns tentam fazer

CiscoLive names Informix best IoT database / Informix nomeado a melhor BD para IoT pela Cisco

During the annual meeting hosted by Cisco, CiscoLive, IBM Informix has won the award for bet IoT (Internet of Things) database.
This acknowledgement is a nice prize for all the features related to IoT that IBM has been adding to Informix. IBM and Cisco are long term partners and Informix is own of the success stories in this partnership. As it's widely known Cisco uses Informix inside some of their equipments like voice routers.
Unfortunately there aren't many evidences of this award, apart a pic on twitter shared by one IBMer:

Informix 12.10.xC7W1

Just a couple of weeks after the regular fixpack 12.10.xC7 IBM launches 12.10.xC7W1. The "W"s are cumulative releases (W2 contains everything W1 contains). They typically come out when there's a strong reason for it, like:
In any case some customers were concerned that a release of a PID so close to the fixpack release date could imply the fixpack (12.10.xC7) had serious issues. That doesn't seem to be the case, and no alert/flash was released.
For the customers that were in the process of planning upgrades to 12.10.xC7 they could consider using 12.10.xC7W1 instead. If you already moved, there seems to be no reason to redo the upgrade process.
12.10.xC7W1 naturally contains some more fixes (that were not ready for 12.10.xC7) and a couple of features that will be made public in 12.10.xC8.

Em todo o caso, alguns clientes manifestaram preocupação com a disponibilização de um PID tão em cima da disponibilização de um fixplck regular, pois isso poderia indicar problemas sérios no fixpack 12.10.xC7. Não aparenta ser esse o caso e não foi efetuado nenhum alert/flash relativo ao Informix.
Para clientes que estavam no processo de migração para a 12.10.xC7, poderiam considerar utilizar a 12.10.xC7W1. Se já efetuou o upgrade para a 12.10.xC7 não parece haver motivo imperativo que leve a mudar para a 12.10.xC7. A 12.10.xC7W1 naturalmente contém mais correções (que não estavam prontos na data da 12.10.xC7 e um ar de funcionalidades que será tornada pública quando sair a 12.10.xC8.
